Yawn...

I am super tired today.  I could really crawl back into bed and go to sleep.  I am not sure why that is?   I have pretty much eaten all of my stash for the day as well.   Oatmeal, yougurt, soup, apple and almonds.   Which leaves me with a banana for my pre gym snack.   Last night I went to the gym and ran for 30 minutes straight and walked for 10 and a 5 minute cool down.   I felt great. 

I am sore and sleepy today.   I am also hungry.   I could eat a mule.   I am just going to sit back and observe the hunger, eat my food, however nothing else.    The gym makes me hungry, I forgot about that.  

I saw a video of myself today that didn't send me over the edge.   Which is a good thing.

Night time

I have been trying to go to bed hungry at night.   I always seem to wake up in the middle of the night though.   Then I watch the Diners, Drive Ins and Dives or Man vs. Food or some other food show and I wonder why Guy Fieri is not as fat as I am.   That other food guy, Man vs. Food is not as fat a me either.   I just don't get it.   Last night the MVF guy ate 10 sliders dipped in au jus.   What does he eat normally?  I am curious.   Why are these shows on TV anyway?  
I really need to stop watching them.  Especially when I am hungry and trying to eat like a skinny white girl at 3:00 AM

Water

I just spotted a skinny white girl in line and she was chomping on a luna bar and buying a bottle of water.

Water!

I am a Scorpio so I get the whole water thing. I like drinking water, thank god! So, I too will gulp down the stuff as if I were living in the Sahara Desert. I also love to bathe and wade in water.
I am lucky too! Water has now become somewhat of a status symbol here in Boston.

Carrying around a bottle of water symbolizes self care, intelligence and superiority. I don't care if you don't agree with me. It is true!

I got out to eat often for my work. Ordering a glass of water instead of a soda or a glass of wine sends a statement to the rest of the table. It tells the rest of the table that you care, you care about your body and what goes into it. Or you need to hydrate yourself for the 8 mile run your going to take after work.

Ordering water at lunch usually precedes the mixed greens with protein order that is sure to follow. Dressing on the side!!!

Typically, I order the special of the day and an never ending glass of diet coke. I usually stop with the 4th refill. I am also seduced by words like aoli, pesto and remoulade. Not to mention a "side of fries." Sigh....

What have I learned? In order to eat like a skinny white girl, I need to act against my natural urges. Be counterfactual! Be repulsed at the slightest mention of mayonnaise or its impostors.

Order water next time!

My mother

Two weeks ago my mother asked me "When are you going to lose some weight?" for the umteenth time. No, my mother is not a nice woman by any stretch of the imagination. However, I had to ask myself when am I going to lose some weight? What is the key to permanent weight loss? I have read every book under the sun and participated in just about every weight loss program in existence. And I have failed time and time again.

I live and work in Boston Massachusetts. I am a Black woman who has a lot of white female friends and all of them are thin. Some are insanely thin. One of my best buddies is an exercise freak, she begins with morning cardio for 60 minutes, rides her bike to and from work and usually hits the gym during lunch. Another buddy of mine barley eats at all, and works out daily. She runs so hard her sneakers are blood soaked. Her only fuel usually a frozen banana or a couple of crackers. How does she curb her hunger?

I know they are both sick but, I really think I can learn something from them. So begins my quiet quest to eat like a white girl.

Yesterday I ate an apple, a big bowl of vietnamese chicken noodle soup, one bag of soy thins, 100 calorie pack of almonds, yopliat fat free yogurt and 2 cups of broccoli and a cup of brown rice.

Hunger meter- I was super hungry after work and did not make it to the gym. I ate nothing between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 pm. I felt faint and had no energy until I refuled on soy thins and almonds and even then I felt weird.

I did drink a shot 5 hour energy between 2:00- 6:00 pm. What have I learned? I need to save a snack to eat at around 4:00 p.m. To prevent crashing.

The happy part, I woke up this morning moderately hungry and I felt lighter. I also grabbed that pair of too tight underpants and they were a little less snug. : )
